Roundhill Adult Learning Centre

Roundhill Adult Learning Centre is one of our most established venues, having hosted learners for decades! The venue is located to the rear of Roundhill Academy, a 5-min walk to Thurmaston Shopping Centre. Roundhill Adult Learning Centre is one of our three dedicated adult learning centres in Leicestershire. The venue plays host to courses from across our entire GoLearn programme including Digital Skills, English, Maths, ESOL, Languages and Learning for Wellbeing. The venue benefits from a dedicated creative suite for courses like Sewing, Drawing and Painting, and more.

Car parking

Roundhill Adult Learning Centre offers FREE parking to learners and staff. Spaces are shared with the staff at Roundhill Academy, so parking can be limited during traditional school hours. Overflow parking is available opposite the site entrance on Melton Road.

Accessibility

Disabled Access

The external ground-floor classrooms at Roundhill Adult Learning Centre are fully accessible by wheelchair users. Due to the age and structure of the main building, completely step-free access is not available. Once through to main reception, the building is fully accessible from that point, with a stair lift available for the first-floor classrooms. Please call us on FREEphone 0800 988 0308 to discuss any access needs.

Toilets

The building is equipped with a disabled toilet in the external classrooms, and general toilet facilities in the main building.

  • Sinks and cleaning facilities for creative courses

Fire Evacuation Procedure

During the first lesson, your tutor will talk through the Fire Evacuation Procedure and within the first few weeks do a walk-through practice.

If any learner should need help with leaving the building in case of an emergency, your tutor will complete a Personal Evacuation plan with yourself to ensure this help is in place.

Dynamic Emergency Lockdown Procedure (Run, Hide, Tell)

Dynamic lockdown is the ability to quickly restrict access and egress to the site or building (or part of) through physical measures in response to a threat, either external or internal. The aim of lockdown is to prevent people moving into danger areas and preventing or frustrating the attackers accessing the site or building.

  • Each of our centres holds the overarching procedure specifically related to the venue
  • All our centres display the “Run, Hide, Tell” awareness posters
  • The alarm can be used verbally or by use of a panic alarm
