ESOL Class Visit to the Local Job Fair

Our ESOL learners, accompanied by their tutor Wessam Abdelghany, recently attended the local Job Fair – and it was a fantastic success!

Our ESOL learners greatly appreciated the chance to speak directly with a variety of local employers during the jobs fair. Many commented that having real conversations in English – outside the classroom – helped boost their confidence significantly. They felt more comfortable asking employers questions, engaging in meaningful discussions, and explaining their skills, previous experience, and future ambitions. For several learners, it was the first time they had spoken to an employer face‑to‑face in the UK, making the experience especially valuable.

The group was also excited to discover the wide range of job roles available locally, from entry‑level positions to more specialised opportunities. Exploring these different pathways helped them build a clearer understanding of what types of careers they might pursue in the future and what skills or qualifications they may need to continue developing. Learners said the event opened their eyes to possibilities they had not considered before.

Overall, the visit left learners feeling inspired, motivated, and more determined to keep improving their English. Many expressed that the event gave them a renewed sense of purpose and helped them feel one step closer to achieving their employment goals.
