A group of twelve headed out for a stroll in the beautiful Bouskell Park in Blaby last week for our Mindfulness Connecting with Nature session. The session covered many aspects of wellbeing with gentle physical activity, connecting with others, noticing and appreciating nature and learning ways to be mindful to support mental wellbeing. The Tutor Rachel guided the group around a route in the park which took in open grassy areas, wooded sections, paths alongside fields, a small lake and even an historic icehouse! Along the way they took time to connect with and appreciate nature learning various mindful activities including a ten finger gratitude practice which was particularly well received. The session was a welcome way to enjoy an outside space at a gentle pace and the weather also stayed fine which was a bonus! This session was organised in collaboration with Katie Barradell who is the Local Area Coordinator Team Leader in the Blaby area. The session coincided with Local Area Coordination Week which is a national celebration of the work that Local Area Coordinators do in communities.

Katie Barradell, Local Area Co-ordinator, said:

GoLearn! delivered a magical mindful walk in Blaby’s Bouskell Park. My role was to promote the walk locally and to link residents to the opportunity. It was a wonderful afternoon appreciating and taking the time to absorb birds’ song, trees blowing in the wind and the heat of the sun on our faces. We observed water rats cleaning themselves and squirrels climbing bushes and trees. A wonderful collaboration thank you so much GoLearn! Hopefully we can work together for the benefit of residents in Blaby again in the future.
