Connect to Work for Job Seekers

The programme is specifically aimed at those who may find it harder to get into work – for example those with learning disabilities, neurodiversity, autism or other life and health challenges.

Funded by the Government, Connect to Work gives you tailored one-to-one support, practical advice and helps you to find roles that suit your strengths. The aim is simple: to help residents across the county move into long term, meaningful employment.

Working in partnership with Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, we can support you into jobs and help local employers – including the council – to fill vacancies through the scheme.

Connect to Work is here to help you move into employment. It’s for you to benefit from extra support to find the right job and feel confident once you’re in work.

After you register, you’ll meet with a Connect to Work employment support officer to talk about your skills, interests and what you’re looking for. Their goal is to help you find work that suits you and to support you to succeed in your new role.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Connect to Work, you must be:

• unemployed
• aged 18 or over
• living in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland
• ready and motivated to look for work
• fall into one of the defined target groups below

Defined target groups

• A person with a disability or health condition
• An offender (someone who is serving a community service) or ex-offender (someone who has completed a custodial or community sentence)
• A carer
• An ex-carer
• A homeless person
• A former member of His Majesty’s (HM) Armed Forces (AF), a member of HM AF reserves, or a partner of current or former Armed Forces personnel
• A person for whom a drug or alcohol dependency, including a history of dependency, presents a significant barrier to employment.
• Care experienced young person or a care leaver
• A refugee, a resettled Afghan
• A person on the Ukrainian scheme
• A victim/survivor of domestic abuse
• Young people identified as being involved or at risk of being involved in serious violence.
• A victim of modern slavery
