Learn more about digital crafts this June with the return of ‘Have a Go Month’ 2025!
Have a Go Month occurs every June and is a celebration of lifelong learning. It aims to encourage as many adults to celebrate the benefits of learning and inspire more people to ‘have a go’ at learning for themselves. This Digital Skills taster is an opportunity to have a go at crafting a piece of design work on a PC. You will utilise the tools readily available in Microsoft Word to create a greetings card that you can print and take home with you at the end of the session.

What is Have a Go Month?
Throughout the Month we offer FREE ‘taster’ sessions across the County. Tasters are designed to give you a ‘flavour’ of the learning opportunities available to you and, at the end of each session, you will have an opportunity to speak to your tutor about continuing your learning. Tasters are suitable for all levels of skill and experience, and we welcome everyone looking to take their first steps in their learning journeys.

Where are the tasters located?
All tasters are FREE to those aged 19+ living in Leicestershire, and are hosted in venues including: Coalville Library, Enderby Adult Learning Centre, Hinckley Library, Loughborough Library and the Moira Adult Learning Centre, The Symington Building in Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray Library, Roundhill Adult Learning Centre in Thurmaston and Wigston Library. Making the Most of Your Money
As the title suggests, this taster is designed to share a wide range of tips, tricks and resources that can help you stretch the pennies this Summer!
Relaxation Techniques
Explore a variety of exercises and techniques that encourage you to think about the connection between body and mind, with the aim of supporting and improving your everyday wellbeing.
Introduction to Acting
This is a practical drama taster introduces learners to a range of movement and theatre-based activities, focusing on the body and voice. This course aims to get you active, working both as a group and independently, building skills in confidence and collaboration.
Film Appreciation
This taster is aimed at anyone interested in learning about early cinema history. We will talk about topics such as early film inventions, influential actors and directors, and Hollywood film fandom.
Building Block to Novel Writing: Character
This taster is for anyone who is interested in learning how to create 'characters'; and essential building block in novel writing.
Bhangra and Bollywood Dancing
Bhangra dancing is an enjoyable way to keep fit while having lots of fun, whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience. Taking part in dance classes is good for your body as well as your mind.
Connecting to Nature
Develop an understanding of how relating to and experiencing nature through simple activities can lead to improved wellbeing. Content will include practical steps to develop your connection with nature and exploring the five pathways to nature connectedness which are: Contact, Beauty, Meaning, Emotion and Compassion.
Introduction to Mindfulness
Mindfulness is increasingly recognised as a method for improving our general sense of physical and mental wellbeing and reducing stress and anxiety. This session covers a brief background to mindfulness, explores some of the different ways to practice mindfulness and introduces a few simple techniques for moments of mindfulness in everyday life.
5 Ways to Wellbeing
The 5 Ways to Wellbeing are a set of actions which can enhance health and wellbeing. They are: Connect, Be active, Keep learning, Give and Take Notice. During the session you will explore each of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and create a personalised plan to incorporate them in everyday life.
A ‘Taste’ of British Sign Language
Themed around a love of food, this taster session aims to teach you some practical signs that you can use in everyday life to communicate with deaf friends, colleagues and family.
A ‘Taste’ of French
Themed around a love of food, this taster session aims to teach you some practical words and phrases that will give you a ‘flavour’ of your chosen language.
A ‘Taste’ of German
Themed around a love of food, this taster session aims to teach you some practical words and phrases that will give you a ‘flavour’ of your chosen language.
A ‘Taste’ of Italian
Themed around a love of food, this taster session aims to teach you some practical words and phrases that will give you a ‘flavour’ of your chosen language.
