Have a Go Month occurs every June and is a celebration of lifelong learning. It aims to encourage as many adults to celebrate the benefits of learning and inspire more people to ‘have a go’ at learning for themselves.

This taster ‘Building Block to Novel Writing: Character’ is for anyone who is interested in learning how to create ‘characters’; an essential building block in novel writing.

What is Have a Go Month?

Throughout the Month we offer FREE ‘taster’ sessions across the County. Tasters are designed to give you a ‘flavour’ of the learning opportunities available to you and, at the end of each session, you will have an opportunity to speak to your tutor about continuing your learning. Tasters are suitable for all levels of skill and experience, and we welcome everyone looking to take their first steps in their learning journeys.

  • Connecting to Nature,
  • Bhangra and Bollywood Dancing,
  • Building Block to Novel Writing: Character,
  • Film Appreciation,
  • Introduction to Acting,
  • Relaxation Techniques,
  • Digital Craft: Make a Card,
  • Making the Most of Your Money,
  • A ‘Taste’ of British Sign Language/French/German/Italian/Portuguese/Spanish,
  • …and some very special ‘Meet the Team’ sessions for anyone thinking about joining us in September 2025 on one of our incredible English or Maths courses.

Where are the tasters located?

All tasters are FREE to those aged 19+ living in Leicestershire, and are hosted in venues including: Coalville Library, Enderby Adult Learning Centre, Hinckley Library, Loughborough Library and the Moira Adult Learning Centre, The Symington Building in Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray Library, Roundhill Adult Learning Centre in Thurmaston and Wigston Library. We also have a range of tasters available to anyone wishing try their hand at Online learning this year. (Click the links to view all the being offered in your area this June!)
