GoLearn supporting people through Connect to Work
GoLearn is proud to support Connect to Work, a locally led programme that helps disabled people, people with health conditions and those facing complex barriers take positive steps towards work.
Since launching late in 2025, over 150 people have enquired about Connect to Work, showing strong local interest in tailored employment support. To date, just over 40 people are actively being supported, with all receiving personalised one‑to‑one help from a dedicated Employment Support Officer.
The programme offers structured, ongoing support based on the ‘place, train and maintain’ model. This includes help with job searching, preparing for work, and staying in employment. At the moment, over 40 participants are at an active vocational profiling stage, working with their Employment Support Officer to identify goals, strengths and next steps.
Connect to Work is designed to move at the right pace for each individual. For some people that means taking time to build confidence and stability before moving forward – and the programme provides space for that. There is also a steady pipeline of new referrals and a waiting list, showing continued demand for this type of personalised support.
GoLearn is delighted to play a key role in delivering Connect to Work locally and helping people move closer to meaningful, sustainable employment. Claire Smith, Connect to Work Project Manager said: “The 8th April marked 6 months since I started my role with the Adult Learning Team and in that time I’ve been so proud of what we’ve achieved. We’ve onboarded five new members of staff and started to support over 40 individuals from Leicestershire who are looking for work. Over the next four years, we will be supporting over 600 people who are facing barriers to work, to find and stay in employment.”
