Earth Day 2026 – ‘Our Power, Our Planet’

Staff, learners and apprentices across GoLearn! celebrated Earth Day on 22 April 2026 with a wide range of learning activities and actions that captured the Earth Day theme of ‘Our Power, Our Planet’

Staff, learners and apprentices across GoLearn! celebrated Earth Day on 22 April 2026 with a wide range of learning activities and actions that captured the Earth Day theme of ‘Our Power, Our Planet’. This included discussions, artwork, practical activities, posters, learning new vocabulary related to the environment and thinking about how we can all make small changes which together make a big difference. A small selection of these are highlighted below.

  • Tetra- Pak etching and printing – learners used old cartons to etch nature themed designs and then printed images using these
  • Group line drawing – learners worked as a group with each taking a section of an original photo of David Attenborough and created line drawings which were then put together to create the full image
  • A Place to Grow – learners volunteered their time in a community garden preparing beds and planting seeds
  • Bamboo pens – the Connect to Work project have made the switch to bamboo pens instead of plastic to promote sustainability

  • Educational posters – apprentices created posters to explain environmental issues to the children they work with
  • New vocabulary – learners explored environment related vocabulary in BSL, French and Spanish
