Connect to Work Continues to Build Momentum

We are delighted to welcome four new Employment Support Officers to the team, increasing our capacity to support even more residents facing barriers to employment. Their arrival marks an important milestone as demand for the programme continues to grow.

One of the biggest achievements so far has been securing nine job offers for Connect to Work participants. These opportunities span a range of sectors and highlight the willingness of local employers to embrace inclusive recruitment practices. Recent successes include participants securing roles with Leonardo Hotel Hinckley Island and Leicestershire County Council, demonstrating how employers of all sizes can benefit from opening their doors to talented local people.

Alongside paid employment outcomes, the team has been creating valuable opportunities for participants to gain experience, build confidence and explore different workplaces. Participants have successfully completed work experience placements with Ulverscroft Grange and taken part in workplace visits to NatWest, McDonald’s, and Sensitive Care, giving them the opportunity to learn more about different industries, meet employers, and understand the wide variety of career paths available. These opportunities help participants build confidence, ask questions and see what working in different environments could look like for them.

The success of Connect to Work would not be possible without the support of local employers, partner organisations and colleagues across Leicestershire. Every job opportunity, work experience placement and workplace visit helps to create more inclusive pathways into employment for people with disabilities, health conditions and other complex barriers to work.
