In addition to our ever-popular pottery workshop courses, we also offer a wide range of stained and fused glass courses. Our Silver Clay and Polymer Clay courses are NEW for 2023/24 and are being offered as part of our ‘Wellbeing Saturdays’ offer.

Pottery & Glass Courses

Pottery Workshop

These courses are designed to encourage learners of all abilities achieve their own personal goals within a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can go at your own pace. Beginners will start with the basic ceramic processes, intermediate and advanced learners will work on personal projects with technical and artistic support from the tutor.

Stained Glass Workshop

This course is aimed at both beginners and those with more experience. The course provides beginners with the opportunity to acquire the skills to make a stained-glass panel and a copper foiled project. More advanced learners will be supported to develop their own projects.

Fused Glass Workshop

You will be introduced to the work of contemporary glass artists for inspiration and be given the opportunity to make a variety of kiln fused glass pieces, including coasters, suncatchers, plates and jewellery. You will learn how to cut glass safely and learn how to layer glass and use glass stringers, frit and other glass embellishments together with metal inclusions to create decoration. You will have the opportunity for ongoing 1-1 discussion to develop your own ideas to design and create a range of glass pieces. You will experiment with different temperatures to develop an understanding of the firing process.

Introduction to Lamp Work (Glass)

You will be shown how to cut glass, edge wrap in copper foil and use a soldering iron to create a four-sided Lampshade.

Wellbeing Saturdays

Christmas Pottery

The course is designed to be a fun Christmas themed pottery day, teaching learners how to create pieces using ceramic techniques such as pinch, slab and coil pottery. The day will be structured and include demonstrations of all the pieces, but learners will have the freedom to decide which and how many pieces they choose to create.

Summer Pottery

The course is designed to give you a flavour of what pottery is about and learn some basic ceramic techniques such as pinch, slab and coil pots. The day will include demonstrations to support learning but you may then use the techniques taught to experiment and enjoy going where the clay takes you. It is an ideal opportunity to see if you would then like to attend a longer 10-week course with the same tutor.

Fused Glass Christmas

In this one day course the learner will be making a variety of Christmas decorations. This course shows how to cut glass safely to make a variety of shapes. To learn how to layer glass and use glass powders, glass rods and metallic inclusions.

Fused Glass - Summer Garden

Decorate glass using (Bullseye COE90) glass sheet, frits and stringers There will be an opportunity to learn how to cut glass, however bases will be provided. Pieces will be available for collection after kiln firing.

Silver Clay - Autumn and Spring

Silver Clay is a soft and pliable clay that can be moulded, rolled and textured by hand like ceramic clay and then fired to produce .999 Fine Silver Jewellery and small objects. You will be shown how to use the basic tools, processes, techniques and equipment to make a Silver Clay Pendant.
