Asian Fashion - Salwar Kameez

This course is ideal for budding garment makers. You will make a classic Asian outfit, the salwar kameez, with either long or short sleeves, in a size that fits you. (Pattern size is UK6-16). You will be encouraged to make use of existing fabric reduce the impact on the environment. This is an ideal opportunity to re-use or repurpose fabrics to reduce waste and develop sustainability.

Introduction to Sewing

This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to sew. You will gain skills in hand stitching and using a sewing machine. You will learn various sewing techniques and work on small projects which gradually increase with your sewing ability and confidence.

Sewing Project Workshop

This course aims to introduce learners to sewing or refresh their sewing skills. Learners will bring a project with them; it could be one they have already started or one they are starting from scratch. The tutor will support learners to complete their project. In addition, the tutor will offer smaller projects to make useful wearable items or gifts. This is an ideal opportunity to re-use or repurpose fabrics to reduce waste and develop sustainability.

Reuse Fabric - Make a Pair of Trousers (All Genders)

This course will show you how to repurpose your old jeans to prevent them going to landfill. They could be used to create fabric baskets, plated placemats, gardening aprons, bags, coasters, cushion covers. You are only limited by your imagination.

Reuse Fabric - Make a Shirt (All Genders)

This course is ideal for budding garment makers. You will be able to make a casual shirt or shacket with a choice of long or short sleeves, with or without pockets. You’ll be encouraged to make use of existing fabric such as bedlinen or curtaining to reduce the impact on the environment. During the workshop you will learn how to make the most of existing fabric you have at home to create a shirt that you can wear for many years to come.
